Sauk Prairie Airport Fly-In Gets A Lift From Quincy

Safety improvements and community spirit have always been prime goals of the Sauk Prairie Airport Fly-In, slated for June 14, 2008. Quincy is proud to support these efforts with a donation to the cause. Since 2006, contributor's donations have led to numerous improvements at this not-for-profit airport, including:

1. Runway widened from 32 to 60 feet and re-surfaced.    
2. Taxiway widened from 19 feet to 25 feet and re-surfaced.
3. The driveway leading from the highway to the taxiway widened from 19 to 25feet and re-surfaced.
4. A new paved area was created along with five concrete airplane tie-downs onthe grass.
5. Quality grass seed sown to prevent the growth of agriculture cropspreviously grown at the airport.
6. A new pilot controlled lighting system was installed.
7. A new rotating beacon and lighted airport sign were installed.
8. Runway End Identifier Lights (REILs) were installed at both ends of therunway.
9. New wiring was buried for the REILs and future Precision Approach PathIndicator (PAPI) lights.
